I gotta HP fax 1010 and use it mainly as a copier. I used some white-out on a document then tried to copy. The gunk caked on the scanning glass and the book says to only use a dry cloth to clean it, with attention on not "scratching the glass". The gunk won't come off w/o scraping, which prolly means scratching. A lesson learned...

Lighter fluid. Let it soak for a minute. Wipe with a soft cloth.
Polish off residual fluid with glass cleaner.

I've found that lighter fluid is great for dissolving any kind of adhesive/sticky materials without leaving anything beind.
