Well, there are not many PCI hardware-modems out. If you don't find one, you also can get an external modem (connected to the COM port).

The Zoom 2940 is a hardware controlled PCI modem, Lucent chipset. Not as speedy as the Rockwell ACF chipsets, but just as stable in my experience.

They are a bit pricey, though. Your best bet would be to get a Diamond Supra Express serial.

Best? Multitech Call Answer modem.
Next? Actiontech Call Waiting modem.
Next? Zoom 2940
Preferred over ALL? Diamond Supra Express External!

Yes, just bought a v.92 and it's a good one, although using v.90. It's backward compatible. But, it don't happen as good as the Express :D
