I was given an older AST system with win95 and was wondering if it is possible to uninstall the older version of Internet Explorer and install newer version from the win98 disk? Thanks for the help!!

No, but you can download just IE and install it just fine.

I would not recommend a newer version of IE than 3.02 on Win95 - it can destabilize it. Get Opera or Netscape.

BAH! I've got IE5.5 with the SP all running on a P133, win95b, no troubles.

Edit: That's Win95b, not 98...heh.
Also installed it (IE5.5) on a couple of 486's, no troubles.

I have installed IE5 on several older PCs P100-P120 running Windows 95 with no problems.

Of the "few" things I've learned, there often is no absolutes.

I actually liked IE 3.02, i think thats the version, I always thought that that was a great browser, i could be wrong but it seemed to serve me the best of surfing, but now you got all this new fancy html/java/vb/dhtml aand other crap and IE3 cant handle it. So get ie 5

I don't know if this is like what you are talking about, but I had installed IE 5.5 on my 98 computer using the windows ME disk. It was burried on the CD and I had to use a search to find it, but it was there and installed fine.
