Can someone help with these Windows 98-SE & or ME Features ?

When installing Windows 98-SE & or ME during the last 10 min. or so of setup Were it says. "Setting up hardware and finalizing settings" Got an error message... "Could not decode CAB settings"

Setup has detected the following decoding error "Could not
decode CAB file" Setup will attempt to recover from this situation
click ok to continue"

Is this a hardware problem ?

Is it Memory ? , or the CDROM or the Hardrive ?

This is one a Compaq Deskpro EP Series model 63350
350 MHZ P-II running 128 Megs of RAM

Thanks

Sounds like a corrupt install CD. I would attempt to replace the CD or if you can try and run the setup on another PC.

It can also be bad RAM. I always blame it on RAM because EVERY time I have seen an error such as that, changing the RAM has fixed it. We did have an error like that posted on here a few months ago, and it did turn out to be the CD, but I still put my money on RAM.

Yep just had the local computer store install a 64 Meg Ram chip and then things starting acting funny and wigging out.
