Windows ME Annoyances ! (Features as Microsoft says )

1. Why dosen't Windows ME have a SYSEDIT file in C:windows\system ?? Like Windows 9X ?

2. Why does Windows ME "Windows Explorer default to My documentsinstead of My Computer ?

3. Why doesn't Windows ME allow file sharing of your briefcase on the desktop ?

4. Why do I sometimes get but most of the time don't get my login dialog box first with "Client for Microsoft Networks" enabled ?

5. Why does Windows ME open up a window for every mapped drive when mapped network drives are re establised during re-boots ?

6. Why do programs i.e SHIMGVW.DLL Crash and or programs quit responding, sometimes they start responding and soemtimes they don't ? I will say here that I have the Most current Windows ME Drivers for all of my Hardware and Periphrials. (Printers Scanners, CDRW etc)

1) MSCONFIG replaces SYSEDIT

2) I can only guess that MS assumes that you are looking for a document when you explore.

3) I dunno... works fine on my two ME machines at home and the 4 at work.

4) Again, I dunno, have yet to see that happen.

5) Not necessarily fault of ME. I have never had any crashes like that. The only problems I ran across were it didn't seem to like ICQ 99b, had to upgrade to 2000. My ATI All-in-Wonder Pro 8Mb with dually Voodoo2's required the unsupported drivers from ATI to be stable while with 98 I had to run one driver revision OLDER to work properly. This one may take some close examination of what's running with what and what you are doing when it crashes.
