Went to boot up PC this Am and this occurred:

I see the windows 98 splash screen then it appears it is booting up OK then I see
C>:Dos Start
Plug N Play BIOS detected
SB Pro: I/O=220, IRQ=5, DMA=1
An error occurred while updating the environment

It puts me to a C>:
Can't go anywhere from here.

Any ideas???? I have no idea
Thanks

If you are at c:\, you could try typing SCANREG and restore the registry from a day or two ago.

I will give it a try.

Just for clarification the line above should be
Dos Start
I do not know how the icon got there.

Try typing EXIT at the C prompt - it looks like it's stuck in a restart-in-Dos-mode loop.

If that doesnt work, try scanreg /restore - and pick a registry from a date that you KNOW worked.
