Help needed with using 2 nics as 1

I need help on how to setup 2 onboard nic so that they work together. I have been told that 1 can be setup to transmit and the other to receive. The server has W2K Server on it. Thanks.

I see what he's trying to do. Make one nic for upload traffic, the other download.

I think it envolves IP binding, but other than that, I have no idea.

Maybe two Cable lines---> 1 NIC=1337 speed ;)

Or... ok I don't know what else... Is this like a home system and you want to allow all of one NIc to be outgoing, increasing the rate at which the computer would transfer to other computers? Don't really think it works that way if so.

PS-WHile this may be OT, I remember hooking up 2 phone lines and having them go to one comp, wew I was blazzing! That was before my DSL mind you :p

This is for a server that has 2 network ports. I heard that they could be configured so that one will transmit and the other will receive. I don't know if I can use the same IP address for both cards or do I have to use two IP addresses or if 3rd party software is needed and if so what software. Please advise.

No need to use 2 cards. Just make sure you are using a switch instead of a hub and the single card is set to full duplex. This will let a single card both transmit and receive at full bandwidth simultaneously. The only reason to use multiple cards is fault tolerance.
