I’ve not been interested in Digital Video until just recently. It appears I may become a grandfather and my interest is getting really peaked, quick. My first build is in the signature below and I’m sure it will handle the processing. I’m looking at the Panasonic PV-GS200 Digital Camcorder and probably the Pinnacle Studio V 9 software.

Now the question I have is about “capture”. What hardware do I need beyond what I have already? That part isn’t real clear!!! Any help is appreciated!

Pinnacle packages Studio with a firewire card for around $100 - that's all you'll need for capture unless your motherboard has on-board IEEE-1394 support. If it does, you've got what you need.

The MOBO has two Fire wire ports, one front and back. Sounds like I might be in business??

Yes. Just connect the camcorder to the firewire port and use the software to capture the video. That's all.
