What better way to spend my birthday than testing various modems. I seem to have a weakness when it comes to modems, an impulse at buying. An inexpensive hobby, considering alternatives. Anyway, using 3 pc's, the below modems performed the same on each, a surprise since I believed a pc could effect performance on various modems.

Supra Express external 2730 46-49

Supra Express internal ISA 46-49

USR 00568600 external 40 retrain to 50

USR internal ISA 42

Boca Tidalwave internal 44

ActionTec LT Winmodem 38

ActionTec Call Waiting external 28

USR 00568603 external 28

New USR v.92 External 44 retrain to 50

These were initial connect speeds. No explanation for the 2 slow ones. A person stuck with one of those could be told that line isn't 56k compatible and never really know.

Not as extensive as Bootman's, but it served my purpose. Just thought I'd share.

Just confirming what we've known all along: Externals, and in particular the ACF II chipset, rule. :D
