What does everyone recommend? (Good quality speakers)

Yeah I know. I researched that bran dand it turned out American, and I don't think that brand is shipped outside the states to the UK over here. So I put all the brands that are available both in the US and the UK :D

Of all the ones listed, I think Logitech has the best sound for your dollar. Some of the others will make good sound, no doubt about it, but bang for buck, Logitech.

None of the above, look at Altec Lansing. These speakers rock!

I'd say Altec Lansing PC speakers are average. I haven't been impressed by any I have heard especially when hearing them next to others. They did make superb automotive speakers though. I have some 4in Altec Lansing speakers in my 95 Civic and They sound absolutly amazing. Friends swear I have a subwoofer. I don't. I don't even listen to bass heavy music. Sadly, they don't make automotive speakers anymore. :(

I picked logitech because I know a lot of peolpe with those speakers and they all love them, and they seem to be some of themost popular speakers at newegg.

I am very satisfied with my Aiwa SX-810 speakers, although they are simple speaker boxes that require a separate amplifier to send them an amplified signal. I use them because they are fabulous and were free.

altec lansing made great computer speakers back in the mid 90's.. some I still use today..
for my main rig I'm using altec lansing 4.1's, but they're only so-so (about what you'd expect for $35)
but nowadays for theatre type sound, I'd pick logitec.. great sound for the price.

Hey, Altec Lansing does rock! I have the 4-1, Model 641, 400 Watts system. Remember the old Memorex TV commercials where the guy would sit in the chair and the music would blow his hair back, etc? LOL! Trust me...it does! In fact the minute I turn it up the old lady starts yellin to turn it down! Geeeez, what a party pooper! LOL!!

I like my Z-640's although newer stuff has come out since I bought these. Just based on articles and reviews I've read, Klipsch seems to outperform all the others. But you pay much more for that performance. Too bad the retail stores don't set up a sound room for computer speaker sound comparison like they often do for home audio system speakers. Think that would be the best way to tell.

Circuit City, and Bestbuy are in my area and they both have loads of PC speakers set out that you can give a test drive. I was just out at Best Buy Yesterday to test out the Z5300s before I bought them.

They've got them set out for listening here too, but they aren't in the same sound room as the home theater speakers are. The just have them on the shelves in the PC area with swithes so you can try them out. Don't think you get the same effect having them blasting in your face at 2 feet away :eek: as you do in a room type environment.

Oh i see what you mean...like if there was a room witha real world environment...now that you mention it it would be quite nice... I hate when you go into the sotre and somebody just to be funny turned all the speakers on max volume, so you press the button to hear them and BAMMM, 250W of speakers in your face on max volume, and of couse everyone and their uncle turns to look at you...lol...
