For my new computer, I've changed the motherboard choice to Intels D865PERLL (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-121-184&depa=0) .
This board has onboard LAN "Intel 82562EZ(ET) 10/100Mbps Ethernet"
I use a 3Com NIC in my present computer to connect to the cable modem.

Am I correct in assuming that these are both used in the same way. That is, can I connect to the modem using the onboard LAN.

Thanks,
Dave

yes...both operate as NIC's. the advantage of the onboard card is that you don't have to burn a PCI slot.

Thank you, just what I was hoping to hear.
