Hi all,
I have an intel 486 computer. It has a 25mhz cpu and 32megs of ram on a UM 486V AIO motherboard. I actually have the manual! The computer also has a 250 MB hard drive with windows 95.
Currently, I have installed an old S3 2meg video card that is inserted in 2 ports, and isa, and what seems to be a smaller isa type port. There are no PCI slots on the motherboard. I have a Diamond Stealth 4 MB video card that was installed on my 200mhz pentium 1 before it shorted out. Now, the video card still works, but it is a PCI card. My question is, is there anyway I can use the card with the 486? Is there some kind of isa to pci adapter?
Any suggestions?

thanks,

not sure if this should be in the video card section.....

I've never heard of such an adapter. Even if such a strange thing ever existed, I can't imagine it would improve things over the current 2mb S3 card. A 2mb video card is pretty good for a 486.

[. . . of course, if someone gave you another 486 motherboard with an early version of the PCI bus (I had PCI on my 486), that would let you use the Diamond :) ]

Is the port in question a standard ISA port (black) with a brown extension - making for a real long card? If so, that's VL (Vesa Local) Bus, and every bit as fast as a PCI card. Keep what you have in there.
