Hey I was just waondering if anyone out there knows how or if I could add an AGP slot to my motherboard. I have a Dell 2400 PC and I have opened the case an there is an extra slot that is not taken by a PCI. I accidentaly bought an AGP video card but it was a really nice one and I don't want to take it back. Please Help me. THanks for any help.

You can't make a PCI slot into an AGP slot as far as I know. Only way is to return it and deal with the less broad PCI video card market.

I know just what you are talking about, my Dell 2400 has the same thing, there is a blank space right where the AGP slot should be, there are even some connecters over the spot where it should be. I have asked here before if a slot could be added and the answer was no.

if you don't have an agp slot, you will have to take the card back. there is no way to get an agp card into a pci slot. and there is no way to turn a pci slot into agp. unfortunately you will have to take the card back, as i have never heard of any type of converter

He is not trying to convert a slot, he is trying to add a slot. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this. The blank spot you see is for computers that are optioned with AGP, and can only be done at the factory.

I really don't think you will find much with the PCI limitation. My friend had to resort to a FX5200, I think it was. I would probably go with an ATI 9200 if I were to buy a PCI car.

it may (depending on how much gaming you want to do/ money you want to spend) be a better option to buy a new motherboard and keep the card... if it is possible to swap the motherboard out with dells?
