hi there,
i just installed the windows XP Pro on my pc having 667 mhz, and when i tried to install the sound card it is jamming things up, the computer crashes, and the creative launcher freezes the pc, also no sound can be heard as the hardware is not being recognized. i gave it the cd with the creative drivers but it didnt reply and crashed. I NEED HELP!!!

Somemore info will help: Did the old sound card work? Was it "onboard" sound? Did you remove the old card's drivers? Does the system still work if you try to boot with the new card removed?

hi,
the sound card is a sound blaster live soundcard of creative and its a pci card and not built in. the pc operated on a windows 98 second addition and i only upgraded it to windows Xp pro after meeting the minimum requirements. this was only an upgrade of operating system. but the soundcard wasn't recognized as such. i dont know what to do, if i restarted the oc having the sound card in a different port it freezes and nothing happens. it halts and brings up windows error leaving me doing nothing, also when i started it on the administrator, [i worked and changed the preferences being the administrator] :D but i got :confused: about what happened. I NEED HELP

Sorry for taking so long to get back... been on vacation :) - So this was an upgrade and not a fresh install... You can roll back the upgrade to Win 98 and start over, but that's always chancey. You can delete the sound card in XP, and remove it from the box, and reinsert the card to see of XP recognizes it. You can uninstall the card and then try installing from the cards original CD, or the download the new drivers and try them.

You used the term "oc" -- are you trying to overclock this machine?
