Ok. So I'm going to take my Cox cable modem from my old computer(the one I'm using to type this) and install it new my new PC. My question is, do I need to uninstall the modem software from my old comp? Also, should I contact my ISP and tell them I'm swithing PCs, or is it an unnecessary step?
Thanks!!!

The only need for cable software is to run their diagnostics and other useless junk, most cable does not require software.
It may take a restart of the modem and a system restart but it should just use your new system without any intervention on their part.
If it's connected USB, you do have to install the drivers on the new computer. Ethernet is plug and play as long as the NIC driver is properly installed.

Good point, I hadn't thought about the USB angle since I don't consider it a real solution.

Thanks guys. Used the ethernet and now I'm on-line with my new PC!
