My sister and I are independent customers of SBC/Yahoo DSL. I reloaded my sister's computer. To get all the updates installed on her computer, I unhooked the DSL modem from my computer and connected it to hers.

The installation program didn't work, as SBC is doing upgrading in the area. But I was able to get the thing working on her computer by entering an htpp:// located on the underside of the modem and entering my modem's unique 10 digit number.

Now that I am through doing what I must with her computer is there any way to unistall my connection from her computer or will it recognize something else when she sticks her modem on it?

What model is your modem, and what model is hers? I've never seen the need to do what you did - a DSL modem is a DSL modem, unlike a cable modem, and authentication is done with PPPoE, not modem MAC like cable. You should just have to replace your login with hers.

I have a SpeedStream 5100 modem. It has an htpp//000.000.0.0 number at the bottem with a ten digit modem id number.

Loging on to the htpp// site, it requested my modem number. Then it requested my username@domain.net and then my password.

This logged me onto the internet. I shut off, I disconnected the modem. I cleared cookies, etc. When I rehooked the modem, I could still connect. I want to get rid of the connection.

Would I go into the TCP/IP Settings and delete "DCHP enabled?"

I found the solution...just because I didn't see a program installed doesn't mean one wasn't. When I went to the web site, it installed a DSL dialer program. After a few rounds with the Indian techs, I got it.

But that sniffing around people were telling me to look for a program. I found it.
