I need help printing to a networked printer through TCP/IP. The printer is an HP Laserjet 4.
My IP range - 192.168.1.xx
Printer - 192.168.1.25
I can ping the printer, but I cannot print to it. The error only says "Error - printing".
OS - XP
Thanks for any help.

You may need to install the printer software on the XP PC if XP doesn't have native drivers for it.

XP has HP laserjet 4 drivers included in the O/S.
Go to control panel > printers and faxes > right click on the printer and click "Properties". Go to the "Advanced" tab and make sure the driver selected is "HP Laserjet 4".
Have you been able to print to this printer before, or are you trying to set it up?

I can print to it using parallel cable without a problem. I have never had it respond when printing with TCP/IP.
The drivers generate an error that there is no digital signature (or something like that) when I load them, but they are the most recent ones on HP's website.
Art, please don't start a new thread on the same issue for continuity reasons.

If you see the printer on the network, double-click it to install it on ur computer. It will walk u through the steps to install the drivers. Afterwards, u get errors from printing from every application, is that correct?
