i just setup a new system, which is using abit IC7 mobo, but for the usb, it need window xp SP1 to install the driver, and the CD provided by this mobo dnt have this usb2.0 driver, so i get the xp sp1 cd and install it, then all the hardware is intalled and work properly.

but the speed is the problem, if compare to my college computer. college's computer is using intel mobo, which is make by compaq, is a set of computer make by compaq, this computer is using window 2000 with latest services pack, and also USB 2.0 which is same as me.

but the transfer file speed is large different between my computer and college's computer. it can said be double up the speed.

how can i improve my computer USB2.0 speed.? is that SP problem? or other?

You need to install SP1, then the USB 2.0 driver from your motherboard's CD.

i already install SP1 and the driver of the mobo CD, alll is fine now, i check at hardware properties, no question mark come out, so everything is ok right.

but the speed only is diffferenct... i had decribted at first post.

any other suggesttion?

Is it possible that both computers run usb 2.0, but the other specs on the college computer make it a faster system due to cpu/memory/system configuration?

what does u mean is it posible that both computer run usb 2.0? sure possible, as long as my mobo support usb2.0 and college computer as well.

that why i need to ask, how the college commputer having more faster usb2.0, since the processor is lower than my one, ram also. but i dnt know that system configuration for the college computer.

even my pc is usb2.0, but the speed is slower than my friend computer which is usb1.0. any suggestion for this? this is real happen, i not just simply post this for fun. i using a usb2.0 handydrive for experiment.

Not sure if this pertains to your board, but with my A7N8X-DLX I had to set the USB options in the BIOS. I had two choices:

1. USB 1.1
2. USB 1.1/2.0

Obviously I set the second one. This could just be a waste of time, but just thought I would comment.

One last thing, did you install the INF chipset drivers. These are very seperate from the USB2.0 drivers and could make a big impact. These INF drivers inform the operating system how to properly configure the chipset for specific functionality such as USB and AGP, and are also on the CD that came with your mobo.

Yes these drivers are on the CD that came with the Mobo. They will either say CHIPSET DRIVERS OR INF DRIVERS. Sometimes I have seen some discs call them Motherboard drivers. Put the CD in and it should autorun, next you should see CHIPSET DRIVER OR INF DRIVERS and just click on the setup. At any rate you already have them. Hopefully that will solve your problem.

Here is a similar installation disc that came with one of my boards. Look for the check mark and what it says about the chipset drivers. Good luck

Have you tried different USB ports? Example - I've seen boards where the front panel ports are 1.1 only, but 2.0 is available on the rear ports.
