I have just installed a new creative labs modem. When I
go to launch my internet services it comes up with
"The port is already open" ??????What did I do wrong???

You have an IRQ conflict. Disable com 1 and 2 in bios,this will free up irq 3 and 4, reboot the machine and the modem should be on it's own IRQ. This assumes you are not using com 1 and 2 for anything.
