My old PC recently stopped working but the HD is intact and working ok. Im getting a new PC and was wondering if the old drive could be installed into the new pc without losing any of the information. The old drive is a Western Digital 120gig. I have it partitioned with only the OS on one of the partitions. Is it possible if I install in on the new pc to keep the files in the other partitions? Or do I have to format everything to install the new drive onto a new motherboard?

You just take the HDD out of your old case put it in the new computer attach power and IDE cable and thats about it. All your physical and logical partitions will appear in my computer with no data loss. Welcome to Pc-Mech!

Depending on which version of Windows you have, you may have to repair or reinstall the operating system for it to work properly, but you will lose no data. There's a few threads in the Tips and Tricks forum to assist you with that.
