I know that pretty much everyone says keep away from Samsung drives because they are unreliable, but where do you get this information from? I personally haven't heard of any problems with Samsung drives, but I could be wrong. I am doubting Samsung being unreliable because of this review:

Usually poor quality drives perform much worse than that, so does anyone have any solid proof Samsung are unreliable?

I know that pretty much everyone says keep away from Samsung drives because they are unreliable, but where do you get this information from? ...Mine is from direct use. I use to work at a place that used nothing but Samsung (they were cheap, both the drive and the company) and had nothing but problems. The people at work were a little inexperienced and thought that all hard drives had problems. I got them switched over to Maxtor and they were very happily surprised that their HD problems went bye-bye.

Our service history on Samsung hard drives and optical drives has been poor. They perform fine when they work, but they have not been durable. Supposedly their new line of drives is a lot better, but it's too early to tell what the long term reliability is going to be.

Performance is not reliability, ric. These are totally separate issues. Look at the reviews out there for ECS motherboards to justify that.

Yeah, I just said performance because as I said, usually poor quality components have poor performnce too. Ok, thanks for the info.
