I would like to buy a new drive for my new system I just built. I currently have a WDD 120GB IDE drive.

I have a new Intel D875PBZ which supports the new SATA Drives also.

My question is, if I buy an SATA drive and connect it up as the boot drive, will I still be able to have a second IDE drive connected and use it for storage, and just as a back up drive. I don't want to RAID, just want to have the second drive to save some files etc....... Just wanted to know if there are any issues with having the two different drives.

I'd like to use the new SATA drive as the main drive, and transfer some files to the new drive like pictures and video.

Also, and recomedations on which brand of Hard Drive to buy?

Thanks for your help.

Yes. My OS is on SATA and I have a IDE HD for storage.

Thanks for the info.

Do you recommend any specific brand of SATA drive to buy. I want atleast 160GB. Looking at a Seagate at the moment.

Seagate, Maxtor, WD - any of those 3 should be fine.
