I'm 17, but to tell you the truth, the age really has no bearing on what type of contributions a person can make to this forum. As long as the person has the interest in computing, and is willing to learn and to help others, that's really all that is needed. If somebody gives good advice, I don't care how old they are.

I'm 15 but I am happy that there are a lot of different ages here as the older members usually have more experience and can help out with the most confusing problems and the younger are giving advice and are usually in the same position as you and it is interesting to hear their views on certain things.

Well I am 33 but like bigandy said age alone isn't the telling factor on knowledge. There are alot here who are much younger that know much more than I do. The one thing age does do is generally round out a person's life experiences and put a different perspective on them.

i'm 15 at the moment. I agree that age doesn't really matter in this forum. Although i will say this a lot of teenagers especially younger ones are some of the worst kids. I don't know why they just seem to think they are better than everyone else. however i don't see any of thoose people at this forum, but at others. Everybody here at pcmech are very nice. And i'm not bad mouthing teenagers as I am one, however with the people i run into it seems that most of the time annoying on purpouse/mean people are teens.

I think its great how there are ppl ranging from 12-80 or something like that and they all treat each other like equals and theyre all nice. If you want to learn about computers, just read the PCMECH tutorials that PCMECH has here, and just observe the kind of problems people are having and some solutions on how to fix them. Reading a lot about computers will give you a great deal of knowledge. That is only knowledge; the best thing on how to know about computers is actual hands on experience. You can get that by building computers for other people, getting internships, or going to school for that. That is how you learn about computers; atleast that's how I learned about them. Once you do something with your hands, it's really tough to forget it; it's easy to forget something you tried to memorize in your head.

Right you are! When I was a kid listening to the "old folks" talk about things in their youth I was amazed. Now, looking back at my own early days, I'm amazed at the technological advancements I've been able to witness. The first TV I saw, then the first color TV, the first plastic stuff, the realization that only 45 years before my birth the Wright brothers flew for the first time, then shortly after my 21st birthday a man was walking on the moon! To get a real life persepective of days gone by, visit Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Or visit Lookout Point above Knoxville, Tenn. and looking at all the mountains think what it must have been like to fight a great war (the Civil War) with only horses and wagons!

I'm in the 26+ group. I will be celebrating my 35th birthday in November. I've been into computers for a while, got my first 'real' computer when I was in college. It was an old Leading tech 386sx25 with a whole 4 megs of RAM and a 20 meg (yes that is right and NOT a typographical error) hard-drive. After about 8 years of being behind without a computer, I broke down and bought the HP.

It's been interesting to say the least how things have changed since I was in school and how much technology has become an integral part in the schools. For my 2nd and 1st grader, had to buy them each a set of computer headphones for their back to school needs. Don't remember ever having that on any of my back-to-school lists. LOL
