I already have a 17" CRT monitor on my computer right now. I play a lot of games, spend a lot of time online, and a little watching movies and word processing.

Here comes the question, I am going to college in 18 days and the desks in the rooms are extremel small. The 17"crt would take up so much room i dont think i would have room for the keyboard to fit on the desk, and i thinkp the desk are to low to add a keyboard slider under it.

Should I look into getting a LCD monitor. I know that they arent particulary good for gaming but the size is what interests me. I usually never set my resolution above 1024x768...thats the native resolution for 15" LCDs.

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to save space if i keep the crt, how effective would a monitor riser be?

Risers suck above a comfortable level but at times are necessary. I had mine on a chest of drawers at 1 point, what a pain in the neck.

Try putting the CRT at roughly a 30-50 degree angle to the front of the desk. That's what I used to do when I had a small desk at work.
