sound stop when connect or disconnect

whenever I connect to the internet while playing a song, my song will hang..something like "dat.dat.dat.dat.dat..etc..." for 2 second.. It happen whenever I disconnect too.. My modem is a pci motorolla winmodem. Anyone know what's wrong?

Yes - the winmodem is sucking up all your CPU cycles just to connect and disconnect, leaving insufficient resources for the sound card. If the modem and sound card are sharing the same IRQ, this makes it worse.

Yep, had a similar problem when we had a USR 56k winmodem, stuttered too. Glad we got a Diamond Supra Express 56i now, works much better.

Yes Al it is ISA. If you are thinking about getting one don't confuse the Supra Express with the Supra Max. The Supra Max is a Winmodem.
