Just when I thought I was going to bump you out, and slide into 3rd place, boom, you're processing almost as many key's as me. At this rate, it'll take years to catch up to you, and get that third slot now. Oh well, I'll have to put another system on this, and bump up my key rate, heh, heh.

That's what happens when you buy a Thunderbird :)

Well you guys can both be proud of beating me by a longshot...:), not doing so well after I sold my dualie and just run a K6-3+, but I hope to improve by this summer with another system.

Good going, but we should try to convince some more people to join.

Yeah...I agree, have posted in the general forum about it, but didn't seem to help too much, anybody have any bright ideas?

OK you guys made me panic for a sec, time to fire up a few more machines. We have quite a few people on the team we just need to get them to turn their PC's on!

Dok, did you get that T-bird cashing in some of that AMD stock? I have the original slot-a type, with a nice piece of the cover removed, that was no longer necessary :) Cruising right along at 950 w/ the promise fasttrack, also hacked for raid, in addition to a system similar to Flops setup. I think my setup does almost 2 1/2 packet's to everyone my K6-2/500 setup does. Gotta get to doing some tweaking over there one of these day's.

Looks like this post brought the whole PCmech team out :D

On the subject of the team, maybe we could email the members to see if they are still interested in contributing, and if not drop them from the list. That way we don't have 18 people listed with no production, or contribution for over a year.

That way, say when a potential new member looks to see the stat's, they don't see a team 23 members strong, and only 5 of which actually put the effort in, heh, not really effort, but the time, to actually make it worth while.

I'm sure everyone's been there, discouraged by the fact that a small percentage of the team put's in the effort, while a much larger group, will end up receiving a portion of the end result. Seeing how, a potential monetary reward will be the result, why should someone who hasn't contributed receive a portion of that reward ?

I think that just because their name is on the list, and they returned 2 packets, that if this team should actually crack this, they really shouldn't receive any credit for the team's effort. I'm not saying that if you produce the most you should get the most credit(sorry mosquito :) ), but if you produce, you will share that credit equally with the rest of the "Team". Who know's, maybe I'm wrong, feel free to correct me if I am, just my .02 on the matter.

Now attracting new member's, that I will save for a post some other time. Now get back to cracking those keys

Well I'm certainly not cracking as much as I used to, like I said I sold the dualie, so that is no more. I run a K6-3+ at 600mhz...which gets about 1 million keys/s, nothing compared to my dualies almost 3.5 million keys a second. I'm planning to buy a tbird this summer though, and I hope to have both machines running RC5 then. Maybe I can sneak on my dad's comp too again...hehe.

As for the team, yeah I agree with skinny, go ahead and email the people, if they aren't interested anymore I'd drop them from the list.

I don't think that it matters how much keys someone crunches, but just that the client is active. I think that someone who didn't submit a single block in a month should be removed from the list.

And I agree that everybody should get equal credit for his "efforts" in this matter.

Since Dok's in charge, what do you say about this? Does everybody agree on removing people that aren't active, or are there objections?

Bottom Line: If we delete members, we loose their submitions, and slip in the rankings. I have no intention of deleting names just because they don't submit anymore.

I think that perhaps an e-mail reminder to those who have been inactive before we do something as drastic as delete the members. I also agree that all that have participated and remained active should share equally when we crack this thing.

Didn't realize that's how it worked, as far as the members submission's. Guess that wouldn't be a good thing :( . Hmmm, too bad, was looking at the list tonight,B4 reading this, been over a year for some people. Oh well. Guess if they were interested in continuing, I would still be in 23 place. Wonder how many of these people use a modem, because I had it set up at work, and it was a pain to set up for that, the stupid thing would connect when it wanted to, and leave the line open, and crap like that. I tried everything to get it to stop, and download more packet's at one time, but didn't seem to matter what I set, nothing changed, so I took it back off.

But that could be some of the problem to, no real definate setup instruction's, and problems with it trying to dial out all the time to flush packet's. I know it frustrated me to no end, and I read all the faq's, and suggestion's on their site, and still couldn't get it to do what I wanted. But my office computer is set to check mail every 15 minute's, and I think that had something to do with it, and automatically updating when a connection was established.

Like I said, what I wrote was just my .02, and that is all.
Whatever get's done, if anything at all, is the team leader's final decision, and I will go along with that. That is what a team leader is for, get all the input, make a decision, and move forward. Some might not like it, some might, but that's how it goes. The leader can't please everyone all the time, but it doesn't matter, if the job get's done. ( ok, all done ranting :) )

Back to cracking this sucker, heh, heh.

You can forget about yoman01@netscape.net That was me a long time ago and that email doesn't even exist anymore. But I agree with Skinny, I'll go along with whatever is best for the team.
