video card swap

Ok, so I bought a new vidcard GeForce5200 as that is all i could afford right now. So I took out the old drivers, shut down and installed the new card. Now it will only go into what looks like safe mode, I cannot install the new drivers and then sometimes my monitor will shut off. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :confused:

You need to install the new drivers. You said you can't. What exactly do you mean ? Does it give you an error message ? Or anything else ?

Well I did get it to load some of the drivers but now I can only get 16 colors.
