I'd like to hear from anyone who's been able to get their Creative audigy card to work with Doom III (ie the surround sound). I've already tried all the recommendations in the 'read me' files etc. I spent a good part of Saturday with Creative America tech support and they couldn't figure it either.
thanks,
Anthony
What specific problem(s) are you having? Maybe we can outwit those Tech. Support guys. :)

I bet that your sound works fine until it suddenly shuts off in tha middle of gameplay...ive seen that same thing. Heres the fix, unless uve already figured it out - you go to the menu from the game by hitting the esc key. You go to the system icon and click on the surround sound as if you activated it for the first time and voila! theres your sound back. Im still messing with tweaking it but i havent figured it out yet. Im sure there will be a driver out soon but im trying to fix it before they get the driver out...ill post as soon as i know anything
From what I've read, Doom 3 runs an audio script through the motherboard making high quality sound available to everyone and also making your soundcard defunct when playing the game. Your problems are thus either with your speakers or with the game. I wouldn't be surprised if electricgroove's suggestion fixes your issue.

I've noticed that when i had surround sound turned on, there was a clipping noise and it even slowed down the game, and after a while it kept getting a little worse, and would happen more often, so i turned off surround sound, and everything was perfectly fine, but it kinda sux that i dont get to use that function.

The problem I have (and others too, from what I read on the newsgroups) is that if I turn on the surround sound option in the game it plays for a few minutes and then all the sound shuts off. Then, sometimes I can restart the sound by hitting esc and then restart game. Or, I have to toggle the surround sound to off and then on again.
I disabled the onboard sound codecs (Nforce2?) etc on the motherboard through the BIOS.
The other people who seem to have the same problem all had the Asus motherboard a7nx8 and audigy 2 card.
Note to xtasy: You may solve your problem by reducing the hardware sound acceleration level. You can access it by running dxdiag.exe. Also, I believe it's accessible somewhere within the windows sound options.

I haven't had any problems with my setup. I use Zalman 5.1 headphones and it sounds great.
I did update the drivers for my audio card about three weeks ago. They were listed as critical on Creative's website. I thought the updated drivers were fairly old though.

im haveing the same promblem, when in surround mode my sound is tinning and bad. and the sound will just die. turned off surround in game and it seems to run fine that way. but for such hype on this game it has to have the worse sound for any game i have played.

Wolfie, why dont you try getting the mod for doom that enhances the gun sounds...i agree theyre a little weak. the mod gives it a more powerful feel to it

With my Audigy 2 zs, Doom 3 sounds have a skip like repeat. The sounds repeat for a bit, drives me nuts. Anyone esle have this problem? I tried Activisions support page suggestion, but it didn't do jack. Also have a problem with the video pausing every so many seconds/frames? This occurs in all my games, while the sound is only a problem in doom3.
Got an Amd athlon xp 2500, 1 gig pc3200 ram, 200 gig 7200rpm hd, pny verto feforce fx 5200 128 mb, audigy 2 zs, sony cdrw, sony dvdrw.
I want this fixed.
