I am upgrading from ati 7000 series to the Radeon 9800 pro. I uninstalled the old ati drivers, rebooted in safe mode and used driver cleaner, switched off, changed the card to the new one, powered up then installed the new catalyst drivers from ati.com. after reboot I get a black screen that flashes every second or so with just the task bar showing every second flash or so, then a VPU error saying its shutting down the card and do I want to send error report.
After trawling a few forums I decided to try installing the new Via 4in1 drivers, so uninstalled the card, used driver cleaner(on ati drivers, wasnt sure how to unistall the old via), installed new via 4 in 1, rebooted, reinstalled ati catalyst drivers, rebooted same problem. AAARRRGGHHHH
Anybody help PLEASE.
Oh I didnt get sent an installation/driver disc from retailer otherwise would have used that but surely that would only have the same drivers I downloaded from ati.com(have contacted retailers who have promised driver disc asap)
I have tried installing with card power supply daisy chained to hard drive and on seperate power lead, have tried installing with just card and hard drive attached to psu to see if it was a power issue. I dont know what to do next.
