Pentium 2.4A/B/C?

I'm building a computer for a friend, and I decided to go with mwave.com for my motherboard/memory/processor bundle since they had such great customer service the last time I bought one from them. In looking at their offerings for Pentium bundles, they offer three variations of the Pentium 4 2.4 GHz: 2.4A, 2.4B, and 2.4C. What is the difference between the three designations (other than the fact that they get progressively more expensive by about $20)?

The differances are due to the different FSB speeds and the amount of cache memory the CPU has; ie; faster FSB the higher the $, more cache more $.

A is 400MHz FSB, B is 533MHz, and C is 800MHz. Also there is the E, which is a Prescott core 800MHz FSB processor. One thing to watch out for, A can mean more than 400MHz FSB. There is the 2.4GHz Prescott core A, which is in fact a 533MHz FSB processor. Really, you should look at the full specs.

Intel has long discontinued the "A" for meaning 400FSB on the Northwood core - not used at least in the 2.4Ghz range. Right now, the only 2.4Ghz worth buying is the Intel P4 2.4A Prescott 533FSB. Other than that, the Intel P4 2.8C Northwood 800FSB should be what you're looking at - it's only about 10 USD more than the 2.4 C/B and the 2.6 C/B.
