I am going to be getting this: http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/memory/a1165.htm
(hopefully)... A good friend of mine said that they will fit on my CMX3200C2 512MB ram even though it says pc 2100/100/133...
My question is, how do i take the heat sinks, that are on my memory now, off? The clip comes off fine, but it seems that the aluminum heat sink is glued... possibly thermal tape?
Any help/suggestion are appreciated
Thanks
once you remove the heatsinks from your memory your warranty is void. in my experience...memory runs better without heatsinks because the manufacturers always put way too much thermal material on them. i just have a fan blowing on bare sticks.

I've heard you dont' need thermal tape/paste with aluminum heatspreaders... so when/if i can remove my aluminum ones to put on the replacement ones (http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/memory/a1165.htm) then i won't put any tape on...
How do you mount the fan to blow on the memory? Or do you mean a regular room fan? and you just blow it into the computer? I can't do that for then the computer gets extra dusty
i have 2 holes drilled in the side of my case with 80mm fans. one blows on the video card and the other blows on the CPU, memory, and northbridge.

ok.. sounds cool.. so you think that they thermaltake heatspreaders with the fan is just a gimic? or will it help my cool things down more? I'm not up for modding my case and adding more fans... thought the fan on the memory would be cool and beneficial...

Unless you are doing some major overclocking I don't think actively cooled RAM is necassary at all. Even If you are overclocking I think it is overkill. I say it's just a gimick that will create more noise in your case. :)

i'll think about it more.... perhaps i'll just test it on my other machine... They're said to be pretty quite.. Besides, my computer is already pretty noisy.. my CPU HSF is running at 6000RPM, so i doubt another fan for the memory will be much of a + in sound...
I'm getting it for free anyway, since my friends doesn't want them anymore, so i suppose it's worth trying anyway.... :-/
