Hey guys,

Where can I find a diagnostics program for my Maxtor HDD? I've been to the Maxtor website and can't find anything. Does anyone have a link to a recommended diagnostics program for a Maxtor?

TIA...

Thanks WTBF and Panama Red :)

I selected the PowerMax diagnostics program and read the instructions on what to do after the download, it mentioned that I have to get a clean floppy diskette and extract the diagnostics program onto it. There's a big fall back to this. I have no floppy drive installed!! Lol, I don't even have any clean floppy diskettes for that matter.

Aaah, well. If I need to run HDD diagnostics at any time I'll just have to use my mum's computer to do the downloading and extracting to a floppy diskette since she has a floppy diskette drive on her computer.

Once again guys, thanks for that link, visited and bookmarked :)

Doesn't Maxtor offer a CD image for download ? You just need to download the iso file, using a program like Nero to burn it to a CD and then boot from it.

Because my IBM/Hitachi drive died a couple days ago I know that Hitachi offers the diagnostic tool as CD image (that's what I used, and it works very well :) ), and Maxtor as one of the best HDD manufactures should offer one, too.
If not, I'd contact them to ask for a CD image.

RJ, I just revisited the site and found the MaxBlast ISO CD Image file. So yep, they do offer one :D

Western Digital (and maybe Maxtor) offers an online test on ANY brand of ide hard drive. I've used it for several different brands and it works well.
