do recovery disks for computers only work on the same size or larger drives or on smaller drives that came with the computer and has anyone had any trouble replacing a hard drive with the origional one that came with the computer
cheers
It all depends on the specific recovery disk. Some don't care about hard drive size, some do. If all you are doing is replacing a hard drive that's still working, you can just use a disk cloning program instead of worrying about the recovery disk.

What OS are you running? a lot of recovery disc's are actually just system access disc's that recover your OS from a partition on your hard drive.
If you have replaced your hard drive and the recovery disc's aren't working its possible that they cant find your OS to reinstall it. :o

P.S. the computer came with a 40 gig hard drive and i tried a backup on my old 20 gig and as it did it it mentioned the samsung hard drive and that the cluster size was wrong and may cause problems.
so hopefully it will work on 40gig and above and not under 40 gig
any ideas people
