CD-RW not showing up

Well, yesterday I noticed something a bit strange...
My cd-rw wasn't showing up in my computer.
A gander into device manager showed that it was still there, on the second channel, but just didn't seem to be working.
A google search said that this was the result of a registry problem, so I followed the directions, and rebooted, then my cd-rom drive disappeared!
I downloaded and ran regsupreme three times, and rebooted, then my cd-rom drive was working again, but still no on my poor old cd-rw.
So I installed Intel App. acellerator, (since it came with my computer on a disk made by the same company as makes my cd-rw) and it showed this: Screenshot (http://img1.uploadimages.net/436884ack2.jpg)

The drive in question was made by AOpen, model no. CRW4048, if that's worth anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

That's a jumpering problem or a faulty drive. 80 wire cables are designed to use cable select (and the correct end must be connected to the motherboard - it's usually blue, the other end is master - it's usually black, connector in middle is slave - it's usually gray), 40 wire cables use master/slave and positioning doesn't matter.

I agree with GLC, this is a very common fault and is caused by faulty jumpers.Change the jumpers on the back of the drives for new ones, they are very cheap if you dont have any try your local PC repair shop, if that fails tell me and I will post you some. It is important to get the jumpers around the right way, windows recognises the CD rom as the master and the writer as the slave, so be certain that you put the jumpers right and as GLC says the cable connection for an 80 cable is blue to the board, black to the master and grey to the slave. :)
