Hey all,
I am trying to do this, connecting to a friends computer and use his computer like I am using mine. Meaning, using his programs and files. Is there any free program that will allow me to do this?

VNC
Real VNC
Tight VNC

Windows XP has this built in. Programs>accesories>communication>remote desktop connection.
It's a pretty self-explanatory setup as I recall. It's much, much faster than VNC. With VNC you'll have a lot of lag, not with the remote desktop. However, it isn't a direct, full access connection to the computer, some things, IIRC, like system and account settings I couldn't access through the Windows connection and had to use VNC.
PC Anywhere also has this functionality but you have to pay for it.

See this is the problem. We are both connected to the internet through a router and like our IP's are the same, 192.168.0.1 (?!!?). and we cant connect to each other through Remote Desktop Connection :( any other free solutions?

You will need to read the documentation on the software (including Remote Desktop Connection) to determine the port/s that need to be open on your routers and firewalls in order to make the connection.
BTW the 192.168.0.1 is your client IP behind the router which is a private IP and not your public IP given to you by you ISP.
To find out your IP go here http://www.whatismyip.com
