confused.
please help, so i set the card up correctly.

make sure you have the latest agp drivers from the maker of your motherboard, as well as the latest drivers for your video card. i believe that a 9800 should support 8x, so grab the latest drivers and try again... also, are you doing this in windows or in your bios? you need to be doing it in your bios settings.

well, depends on the mobo, but....
when the computer boots, enter the bios setup by pressing some key (usually del, but it could be different on your motherboard). i'm not sure exactly what it will be under (again, depends on mobo) but there should be an agp option that you can set to auto, 2x, 4x, or 8x. set it to whatever your vid card supports (i guess 8x is what you are looking for. this will only work, of course, if your mobo supports agp 8x... maybe you could tell us which mobo you have?

sure i have an asus a7v8x, it does support bx agp, and i have changed it and saved it in the bios like you said. However it still will not allow me to change it in properties in windows. It just stays at 'off' instead of 8 x agp?
dont get it!
Enable SMARTGART (ATIsmart) in the bootup menu (msconfig-startup) and see if that does it
