I have a Pentium 4 PC (2.8GB), running Windows XP Home. The PC has an ASUS (P4P800-E Deluxe) motherboard. Yesterday I tried to install an EZ Media Sound Card (5.1 channel output, PCI, Model No. A-8738-6C). After installing the sound card, then the installation CD - MY SYSTEM BECAME UNSTABLE !!! When I boot my PC, the PC will not go to my desktop!!! It goes to a blank (background) screen – with NO DESKTOP ICONS!!! In order to get the desktop to reappear, I have to hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE, end the explorer.exe running in the Process Tab, then I went to File, New Task (run) and typed in: explorer.exe When I did this, my desktop, start menu and icons reappeared!!!

I believe that there is a conflict with the EZ Media Sound Card and associated software CD and a conflict with my ASUS built-in sound card – Realtek ALC850 AC ’97 CODEC built-in sound on my ASUS motherboard.

HOW CAN I DELETE ALL FILES RELATED TO THE EZ Media Sound Card??? (Please note that I have removed the EZ Media sound card from my PC, and I have the same problem described above.)

PLEASE HELP!!!

PLEASE RESPOND TO: gwkremer@bellsouth.net

Thank you.

which pci slot have you installed it into? i've heard of problems when people installed sound cards into the first PCI slot and it corrupts thier hard drives.

Not HDD corruption, just system instabilities.

Is this a proprietery build like a dell or gateway, or is it a custom build?
