What motherboard are you using?
You might want to check out the ATi Radeon 9000 series or the 9200 series. From Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-386&depa=0) you can get the 9000 for $40.
Hope that helps

use radeon 9200. If your motherboard doesn't support agp, then get the pci version. I went through a heck of a lot of problem trying to stuff an agp slot into a pci cuz i had no clue on what an agp slot was and the motherboard on my comp didn't support it.
the mobo im getting has an agp slot and pci slots its the one at new egg

for those interested
the radeon 9200 or 9800 i dont remember which is in my moms computer and i love the graphics so i think i'll go with one of the two (whichever is cheaper ;) ) just to have something to compare to is there anything else recomended

Well if you want to go with the cheapest it would be the 9200 because the 9800 runs at or above $110

ATI Radeon 9800s...try 200 USD ;)
Diablo II doesn't take that much reasources to run, so I'm presuming the ATI Radeon 9000 mentioned above should do - now, this is quite minimal gaming though. It definately will have trouble handling games like Doom 3 and FarCry, but for light gaming as you mentioned, this should suffice. Otherwise, a 50 USD budget is minimal.

sorry about when i said less than diablo 2 im ment i didn't want to go to quite the level as doom three
i am just sick of playing halflife on the lowest resolution and haveing it stutter at places because my processor is doing all the work
i might be able to up my budgt to 80$ at most but that would be kinda pushin it

If you can swing for an $80.00 card, I would recommend the the ATI 9600, 128mb, 128 bit. I think you can find them on Newegg for around that price. I couldn't get into Newegg to check prices at the moment.

The Jetway Radeon 9600 is probably you best bet - it'll play modern games fine, and is rated to be able to play HL2 at mediocre-low settings.

i will probably not be using the computer to play doom III because as i stated i am not spending much and as such it will likely not be able to play it
besides if i wanted to play only diablo 2 on it that would be entirly up to me anyway
