System: 800mhz celeron clocked to 1ghz, 512mb sdram, geforce 64mb 440mx, 20gb samsung, 120gb maxtor, 160gb maxtor (all ide) and 200gb maxtor sata drive contected to 3112 sata silicon image controller card.
I bought a 200gb Maxtor about 3 months ago and a 3112 controller card, it all worked fine till I removed it too free up space for a dvdrom drive, when I got a power splitter adapter I replaced the 200gb hard drive to find it was not accessible, when I checked it with programs like partition magic they would say it was corrupt, I returned it to the reseller so they tested in on a machine there infront of my own eyes and it worked fine...they told me to check my controller card drivers which I done and updated, this made no difference, the problem has now changed though, the reason I can't access it now is because it is not formatted but when I try to format it will go right though it till 100% and even ask me to label the drive before telling me the process couldn't be completed, I've tried formatting from command prompt, parition magic and windows none of which work. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the controller card or the drive.
oh yeah OS is Windows XP Pro, and I've uncapped the 130gb Windows limit thing.
hmmm nothing else I can add save for this one really has me stumped!
Thanks anyone who offers help
