problem detecting 160GB h/d

I have just reinstalled my Windows XP in the computer... i have 4 H/d and 1 on them is not detecting i.e 160GB after re-installing and it is attached to my Raid Card... Pls advise what should i do as all my important data is in this drive and i dont wanna loose it.... So please solve my this problem....

Is this 160GB drive IDE or SATA? If it's SATA - are the SATA drivers installed? Is the RAID card in a PCI slot? Are the RAID drivers installed?

Its IDE and the raid card is installed in a PCI slot.. no drivers are not installed... when i goto device manager under Raid controller it goves me a yellow questionm mark..

And this is what it goves me by clicking it

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I thought drivers are already installed.. coz H/D was working before i reinstalled the XP in my comp... So pls advise as my all college work is in that drive and my midterms are coming...

You need to install the PCI RAID card drivers before you start using the hard drive. Unplug the hard drive from the card. Boot into Windows. Install the drivers. Shut down. Plug in drive. You should be all set then.

I believe you will need to reformat the hard drive before you can set up a RAID array. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. But I believe that is only if you want to use the RAID function of the card; I am pretty sure you can set it up to work where it's just a regular IDE channel.

So where will i find the Raid drivers and also if i had to format the hard drive then i will loose 110 GB of data i had in the drive... isnt there is any other way to do this....

Since you only have 1 hard drive on the RAID controller(I think you said that) you will not be using the RAID function, so just unplug the drive, install the drivers(found on the website of the maker of the raid card), install drivers, shut down, plug in the drive and then boot.

If you had more than one drive to the card, you would need to reformat both drives(if both had data on it) and then create a RAID array.
