Upgrading HD Questions

I have 2 WD 40GB HD's on my system both full. I want to install a new WD 200GB and copy the data from one of the existing drives. I should be left with 1 40GB and 1 200GB drives.
My problem is when the new drive arrived it didn't have a 40 pin sockets like the existing drives, it has 20 or 22 copper contacts. The new drive is from newegg HD 200GB WD 7200 WD200JD 8MB.
Did I purchase the wrong HD or is there a different cable I should have gotten?
Also my existing system has two different IDE cables a 40 pin for the dvd's and an 80pin for the HD's. Are all 80 pin cables cable sellect? The settings on my existing HD's have 5 sets of pins next to the power cable. the master is set on the third jumper from the power cable and the slave is set on the second jumper. The new drive has 4 jumper settings and it came set on the jumper closest to the power. On top of the new drive above the jumper I find "SSC-DIS is that cable select?
I know, a lot of questions but I guess I need a lot of help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your motherboard doesn't support SATA hard drives, you'll have to return it. If your motherboard does support SATA hard drives, you just need a SATA cable.Also my existing system has two different IDE cables a 40 pin for the dvd's and an 80pin for the HD's. As far as I know, SATA hard drives don't use priority jumpers since you can only have one hard drive on each SATA controller. I don't know what those pins are for.

The JD series are SATA drives, so they can't have the 40 pin PATA socket. They have the 7-pin SATA port, and a 15-pin power socket. . . and the classic 4 pin molex power socket, too.

If you don't have SATA ports, then it's the wrong HD. Otherwise just hook it up with the SATA cable.

Yep. All 80 pin cables use cable select.

On top of the new drive there is more than just "SSC-DIS". There it says "Master/Slave jumper not required for SATA". Means: it's just remnants of the old days (because it's actually a PATA hard drive, using a bridge chip for SATA), and you shouldn't move the jumper at all. There is no master, no slave, no cable select.

Wow I really mucked up. You are all very correct. I did buy a SATA HD. I have IDE cables currently connected to the existing HD's so there is no way I can use this new guy. Further reading on the new HD supports the no need for pin settings.
I can save that drive for my new build in a few weeks and I'll just have to order another one.

If you want to use the drive now you can always buy a SATA controller card to pop in a PCI slot.
