I have a Compaq Presario 1500 series notebook PC. Im planning to upgrade the RAM of my notebook. It have two memory slots. One slot is already occupied by an Infineon 256MB PC2100 SODIMM. One slot is available.

First, Is Infineon a good brand of RAM?

I can't find any Infineon RAM here in the Philippines(Mixing different RAMs is not good right?). Kingston is the only available PC2100 SODIMM here. There are generic RAMs. But I know that it will only mess up my stable notebook.

Is it OK to mix two RAMs from different manufacturers?

BTW, AIDA32 Rocks!!! Without opening the memory compartment of my notebook. I was able to identify the type/brand of RAM installed in my PC. It is the most complete Sys Info & Benchmark Tool. Better than Windows'.

Thanks Guys,

Ram(It's my real name)

I've mixed memory brands on 4 different notebooks without a problem. Two were PC133 and 2 were PC2100. You'll know right away if it works or not. If it starts up and runs, you're good to go. Any problems that develop later would most likely be attibutable to a defective ram stick rather than incompatibility. Seems like Infineon might be either a memory manufacturer and/or a chip manufacturer. Could be something like Crucial memory with Infineon chips. Just going from memory here and I could be mistaken.
