Did you guys know that there is a distributed project that is aiming to find a cure for leukemia? I found out about it on Intel's site, http://www.intel.com/cure/research.htm Searching for aliens and cracking codes is fun, but I think I'm gonna devote my "free" time from now on to something a little more on the serious side.

Is it an application that runs on the idle cycles of your cpu, or is it something like seti (stressing cpu and memory). If it is like RC5 I'm willing to run it, if it's like Seti, I'm not willing to run it.

The actual home page is:
http://www.ud.com
its more like seti than rc5. i ran it for a while before switching to RC5. Currently there are no agents for
Linux or the Mac. So its a windows only deal right now.
they offer some cash and prize incentives as well.
Its a worthy project though. Here's a quote fron their page:
"It just allows your computer to screen molecules that may be developed into drugs to fight cancer. Each individual computer analyzes a few molecules and then sends the results back over the Internet for further research. The goal is to enlist enough volunteers to contribute 24 million hours of computational time. This project is anticipated to be the largest computational chemistry project ever undertaken and represents a genuine hope to find a better way to fight cancer."
