well i've gone to trillian, gaim and back to aim. i'm really not having much of problem with aim at all except for one annoying quirk. whenever there is a travelzoo advertisement up in the top window and i accidentally go anywhere near it, it pops-up! i have adblock and all that stuff and nothing stops it. is this anything i can get rid of or stop? is there anything which i can use to just get rid of those advertisements all together?
thanks!
Add the following entries to your hosts file: (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com
127.0.0.1 empiremovies.com
127.0.0.1 xlonhcld.xlontech.net
127.0.0.1 VTOT.proxy.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ads.web.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ads.aol.com
If you edit it with Notepad, make sure you don't save it as a .txt file, it's hosts with no extension.

It sends the requests to those addresses, and the HOST file tells the request for the address where to go. Since it points to localhost, they go into a "black hole", thus never actually requesting the address on the net.
