hi all
could someone please help me out a little
Im trying to format a hard drive with a win98 system disk, but because its a ntfs file sysem it will not let me do it. anyone know how i can get round this problem. i need the pc up and running by the morning for relatives business.
Any help would be more than a appreciated.

wipe out the partition with fdisk (or partition magic or something like it) and re-partition then it will reformat it.

fdisk will wipe it clean, partition magic will do it without loseing any data that is on it.

If you know the make of the hard drive you could download the manufacturers diagnostic tools and run a lowlevel format which will zero fill the hard drive.

use the win98 boot disk and use Fdisk. In Fdisk the NTFS partition will be shown as a non-dos partition. Destroy it, create a new one using FAT32, set it active, and format.
