View Full Version : COMMFLASH Advertisements?

Does anyone else receive these when trying to access a thread? It's always a Circuit City flash ad, but I'm redirected to it occasionally. Running Adaware and S&D have done nothing to prevent it from coming back. I'm assuming it's a PCMech sponsored ad.
It has a message in the top right corner that 'Your Page is Loading' and a link to 'Skip This Ad,' but I can't go on to the thread until the ad fully loads. It takes a while for my pathetic dial-up to download the ad, so it would sure be nice if there was some way to avoid it...

I've never seen anything like that on PCmech.

Although I haven't posted much, I've been lurking for a long time. I've never had a pop up like that. It may be that adware is targeting your history with tech sites.

I've gotten it a few times...the first couple of times I pressed the back button thinking I accidently hit a link. Hope they're gone soon.

I closed and reopened a few times to see if it would happen to me too, but haven't had to deal with that ::knock on wood::
I would just assume that firefox was blocking them, but I opened IE and didn't see it there either.

Well I did some more experimenting and still haven't seen it. I'm using Maxthon. Either the ad blocker is doing it's job very well or they just don't come up for me.

Using IE and I've been getting it multiple times yesterday and today. Sometimes when going Back, sometimes when opening a new thread. No real pattern but I agree with bailey - annoying.

It's not often - maybe a couple times of an evening while browsing the 'Mech. It's more than annoying, tho, as my dial-up is jammed up enough as it is. Any chance that ad will be presented in a different way?
