I am planning to install a SATA hdd on my system, and will be installing XP home on it. My present motherboard (Intel 815EEA) does not have native support for SATA, so I will be using a PCI adapter card. I have read numerous posts on this forum (and others) about problems installing XP on a SATA drive, and would like to minimize or eliminate any potential problems I may have. I will be installing XP using a slipstreamed CD with SP2, and I have the necessary drivers loaded on a floppy for use during the install. The new drive is a WD Raptor 37GB. I would appreciate any advice on how to make this process go smoothly, or for any potential issues I should be aware of. Thanks in advance for your help.

Read the instructions that come with the SATA controller.

In the BIOS, set the first boot device to SCSI.

When the system boots to the WinXP CD and the installation program starts up, watch for the message about hitting F6 to install drivers for the SATA controllers.
