Hi, I have built a new machine and am having issues with running RAM in dual-channel mode. I run Memtest and the sticks have no errors when I test & run them individually, but when I test them in the dual channel config I get anywhere from 40000 errors to over a million during the default tests run. Nothing is overclocked.
Here are my specs (all new parts):
Windows XP Pro
Abit AI7 mobo
P4 3.2ghz 800FSB Northwood w/hyperthreading on
1024 MB (2x512MB) Geil Value Series DDR400
1-80GB & 1-120GB Maxtor Ultra IDE HD
PNY GeForce 128MB 5200 Ultra video card
I initially had a P4 2.4 533FSB no-hyper in it while I was waiting for the 3.2 and it worked perfectly. As soon as I put the 3.2 in I would get blue screens at random times during bootup, safe mode, etc., never getting to the desktop. I then put in some older DDR333 dual channel sticks in and it worked fine. Put the DDR400 back at 800FSB and no go. Dropped the RAM speed down to 533FSB and it worked.
Now I put the GEIL DDR400 into a different box (still dual channel) with the older 2.4 processor @533FSB & worked fine. Ran Memtest on that machine, no errors.
It seems to be an issue with te 800FSB? Could the problem be with a) the processor b) the mobo c) the RAM d) any/all the above? :( Thanks for any help.
