Yes, the hard disk and the hard drive are the same thing. The hard drive stores all files that you save.

You could go even farther and call it a hard disk drive :p - It's just different terms for the same component. Like video card and graphics card.
So why do people use the word Hard disk and not just Hard Drive? why does hard disk even exist?
Because the language would be very boring if there would exist only one word for one thing.
If you think about it, many things have many words.
Like video cards. They are also called graphics card. Actually I like to call them graphics cards rather than video cards to avoid confusion with video capture cards, which is a different kind of card.
Same with CD burner and CD writer. Data gets written to a CD by burning, therefore you can say both, and both are used by different people.
Or why do expressions like "I had breakfast".. "I had dinner" etc. exist ? You could just say "I just ate something".
Why are the words like movie, film, and flick ? Or watch instead of clock, even though the little wrist thing is still a clock, and watch also means to look at, etc.
You see, there are many synonyms in a language. What makes "hard disk" and "hard drive" so special ? It's nothing unusual really.

RJ, I think CD Burner and CD Writer are two different things.. CD Burner is the term used for the software(Nero) used to burn while CD Writer is the hardware itself. You say "Burn my MP3s to a CD-R", You don't say "Write my MP3s to a CD-R",.
No. CD burner and CD writer are the same. The software is called CD burning software. But it's useless without an actual burner.
