tranfer rate question.

I just got my first USB pen drive. it is PNY USB 2.0 and 1GB. I transfered a 700 meg video file to it in 2 minutes. Then I started playing it and it plays back great, seems like instant access.

My question is, is 2 minutes good for 700 meg transfer of USB 2.0?

Seems fast. USB 2.0 is 480Mbps. 480Mbps/8 = 60MB/s.

i just plugged it into a usb 1.1 and was going to take 12 minutes to copy it back. So I guess that is about right.

Your running at about 6MB/sec which is about what I get for usb2.0 on large files. On small files, it's much faster. Nobody ever achieves the bandwith max rate, whether on usb, ide or sata and things always slow down on large files.
